La Croisette

Home to the renouned Film Festival held each May, Cannes is France's counterpart to Hollywood. Its Les Croisette may even be better known than Rodeo Drive.

Cannes is definitely worthy of a half day visit and everything to see is right along the magnificent Mediterranean coastline. The beach restaurants are as nice as New York's finest --  only a bit more pricy.

At the midpoint on Les Crossette is the Cannes Carlton, a magnificent hotel now owned by Intercontinental. It is a must "stop and see." It has a high roller Casino on the top floor overlooking the Med, and it was here when Jason was in school in France (2000) that he and his Dad spent a New Years eve that included a spectacular fireworks show to bring in the new Millennium. When the hotel closed the Casino at 4:00 am, the two found themselves flat broke without even enough French francs to cover the taxi back to Antibes. It was a long walk home!!
